You all know I am a storyteller photographer and most of the time that means doing pictures in your own home. However, not every story needs to be in-home. For example, last year I was contacted to do a storytelling session at the Sarpy County Fair. How could I possibly pass that up?! In honor of a year passing since I did this session, I’m going to give it the attention it needs. It was so hot and sweaty but it was so much fun!
I absolutely love it when clients come to me with ideas for their storytelling session! I say it right in the description, “Let’s photograph your best day, your favorite moments together.” This particular family loves going to the fair every year and it’s some of their best summer memories year after year. This is exactly what storytelling sessions are all about.
A very common question I get is “What should we wear?” I always want my clients to be comfortable and feel like they are themselves during their session. I also want to make sure what they wear correlates with what we are doing. A fair is full of bright colors and excitement so this family made sure to also wear bright colors. Now if this would’ve been a session in a field during sunset, these outfits would not have been a good idea and pictures would’ve felt off. But for the fair, everyone fit right in.
Like I said before, this was so much fun!! It was fun for the family and it was so much fun for me too. I love watching true joy and happiness in people and seeing families connect. I’m pretty sure that some core memories were made this day as well. Now this family has this amazing memories, but they also have pictures all over their walls of one of their happiest days together.
